The two leaders discussed issues of common interests for further cooperation between the United Nations and JICA.
Chief among those interests were areas of cooperation for Jamaica's development. This included matters of the environment, disaster risk reduction, education, and youth. The Japan International Cooperation Agency is a governmental agency that delivers most of the Official Development Assistance (ODA) for the Japanese government. It also assists developing countries with economic and social growth and the promotion of international cooperation.
