How the UN is supporting The Sustainable Development Goals in Jamaica

The UN and its partners in Jamaica are working towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals: 17 interconnected and ambitious Goals which address the major development challenges faced by people in Jamaica and around the world. Jamaica, which played an important role in shaping the global 2030 Agenda, established Vision 2030 as its framework for priority setting, seamlessly integrating the Agenda with Jamaica's national development plans. The results: Jamaica’s Vision 2030, the Medium Term Socio-Economic Policy Framework and sectoral policies are strongly aligned with the SDGs. The UN Caribbean Programme and the UN Jamaica Programme, also known as the Country Implementation Plan for Jamaica, contains measurable activities which are also designed to advance action on the 2030 Agenda. Each priority area is linked to specific SDGs. The Roadmap for SDG Implementation in Jamaica (MAPS) has been created to further accelerate and advance action towards the achievement of the SDGs in Jamaica: It is based on insights and information collected from consultations, bilateral meetings and recommendations of the Economic Growth Council, frames the UN development system’s support in the implementation of the 2030 agenda, and seeks to make available a set of tools, guidance and expertise to governments, civil society and other partners.
