Resident Coordinator consults with President of The Bahamas Red Cross
Resident Coordinator Dr. Garry Conille met with Terry Cruz of The Bahamas Red Cross Society
Both leaders were joined by members of their team to discuss issues of developmnent for the Bahamas. The Resident Coordinator also used the opportunity to consult with the Red Cross about the Multi-country sustainable development framework in the Caribbean.
Dr. Conille, who himself served in The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), recognized President Curry and the local Red Cross for their humanitarian efforts in the aftermath of and the destruction caused by Hurricane Dorian. The Resident Coordinator reiterated the United Nations’s commitment to working with the Red Cross to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
The Red Cross is tasked with promoting health and social welfare, and preventing and alleviating suffering, wherever it may be found.
